Men's Lacrosse: 2024 Postmortem

As we wait for the results of this disastrous season to play out, I am going to take a bitter trip down memory lane of the 2024 campaign. I am actually going to start with the good, because there’s a ton of bad to dissect, argue about, and grumble over. I will do my best to limit the points in this post to just 2024, even though many issues are systemic and have plagued the program for years. I will also, as per usual, emphasize that my beef with the current staff is limited to its results on ...

Men's Lacrosse: 2024 Preview

Greetings and salutations, 11W. It’s been a long time since I last posted a lengthy, lacrosse focused bit on here. Lots of life changes led to the delay, but I’m going to pick things up as best I can. Ohio State’s men’s lacrosse team officially scrimmages another team on January 27", so time is running short. There’s a whole lot to get into, with coaching changes, personnel changes (heads up: this is a whole new team), and a much rougher schedule than is advisable with the unknown...

Men's Lacrosse: 2023 Postmortem

Some weeks after the end of an absolutely brutal season, with a blood-rage subsiding enough to form coherent thoughts, it is time. The postmortem of the 2023 Ohio State men’s lacrosse season needs to be posted for the easing of my mind. And so much has happened since April that a recap is in order. The real junkies mentioned that women’s lacrosse was in a rough spot, and that Amy Bokker might be feeling the heat. I paid marginal attention to the women’s season, but those predictions proved...

Men's Lacrosse Preview: Hate Week

It's been a terrible season for Ohio State lacrosse. Men's and Women's. Wins have been few, the teams aren't looking like they're improving, and injuries have decimated the men's roster. Everyone on the field has been hampered, except the long poles. Now, we forget all that and focus on the game that means more than the rest. That Team Up North.

Men's Lacrosse: Johns Hopkins Preview

Ohio State comes into today's game completely out of postseason contention. There's likely to be one Big Ten Tournament game, but after that the season will be over. Even a two-game win streak to end the season likely isn't enough to push the team over the hump. And they're not winning the postseason tournament. Heading to Homewood, to take on an improved Johns Hopkins team, Ohio State is in real trouble. Offensively, the Jays have improved with a new OC and an influx of tale...

Men's Lacrosse: Johns Hopkins Blasts Buckeyes, 17-8

Ohio State was outclassed in every facet of the game, looked like a good high school team, and was utterly helpless to do much of anything all day. The Buckeyes were lambasted outside of the opening 5 minutes of today's game. Jack Myers had a pedestrian 4 point day, Ed Shean finally came down to earth by only converting 25% of his shots, and the defense was MIA yet again. The team, down a reasonable 3 goals at halftime, laid down completely in the third quarter as Hopkins scored 7 unanswere...
