The Nevada Appeal, the Silver States oldest continuously run newspaper, first published on May 16, 1865.

Surrounded by small flags, empty gun shells, pioneer headstones and a poignant hand written card from an old girlfriend, where she wrote to him "it had been over forty years, I finally found you" is the grave marker of a Carson City Vietnam veteran, Sgt. Daniel Ackerman, who died in combat. His body is buried at the old pioneer Empire Cemetery.

Those who have been traveling along the downtown section of Carson Street since July 22 will have noticed the many young faces on the banners now gracing our light poles.

Carson High School Class of 1973 will be having a 50th class reunion celebration on Friday, October 27th (day before the Nevada Day parade). This will be an informal gathering at the Brewery Arts Center from 3:00-7:00 pm and all Carson High classes are welcome.

The Class of 1983 would like to welcome any other classes from CHS. Friday night all are invited for food & entertainment. The Tap Shack on Rice Street is the location of shared memories and fun. Food trucks; Nevada Nosh and Apuna will be present.
