The Torrance Airport Association has filed a lawsuit against the city, contesting the legality and fairness of the recently implemented landing fees at Zamperini Field.

Touch and go landings are prohibited entirely. Additionally, taxi backs and low approaches are only allowed from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, but they are banned on weekends and city observed holidays.

The Torrance City Council is set to consider a land use study Tuesday which will explore converting Torrance Municipal Airport to a master planned land development project.

The Friday ruling by Judge Curtis A. Kin allows the flight school to continue its operations in Torrance this year and for the duration of the legal proceeding.

The impending decision challenges the city to strike a balance between addressing noise concerns at the Zamperini Field with equitable measures and maintaining a positive relationship with Robinson Helicopter Company.
