Clara Beard News Today

One could describe Laguna Beach's residents as a multi-layered quilt comprised of diverse and unique people. Many of these are gifted individuals who have made noteworthy accomplishments in their professional lives and kindly share their talents to help make our town a better place to live. 

The well-researched article in the Nov. 10 Independent by Clara Beard did a great job of reporting the facts: 

On Nov. 14, the front page of my Los Angeles Times ran a stark photo of a burned forest in Sheep’s Creek Calif., captioned: “The state has recently seen worsening fires driven in part by climate change.”

Thank you, Clara Beard, for alerting us of the possible closure by OC Parks of the Emerald Sanctuary run by Kris Spitaleri. What is OC Parks, or some other entity, thinking - if at all? 

The City of Laguna Beach ordered Hotel Laguna and 14 West to close Tuesday evening after three separate altercations between two different armed security guard teams broke out on the premises.

It may have been a grey and rainy day last Saturday, but the Laguna Beach Library's 50th-anniversary celebration made the dreary weather an afterthought. 

Preparations for the 2023 Pageant of the Masters are full steam ahead. This past weekend, Pageant officials held a three-day on-site casting call for this year's theme: Art Colony: In the Company of Artists. If you missed it, never fear. There's still time to participate. 

Laguna Beach City Council saw Alex Rounaghi and Mark Orgill take the dais as its newest Councilmembers during its regular meeting Dec. 13. Rounaghi and Orgill will replace Peter Blake and Toni Iseman.

The Laguna Beach City Chambers was standing room only, with some left to only peer through the outside windows as residents gathered to honor Councilmember Toni Iseman's extraordinary 24 years of public service to the City of Laguna Beach during the Nov. 15 council meeting.

Excellent weather conditions and warm water greeted a record number of Aquathon attendees at Crescent Bay last Sunday morning, Sept. 25, who gathered for the highly anticipated 36th edition of the local event.
