On May 19, Whitefield Traffic Police issued an advisory about slow-moving traffic due to water logging on Panathur RUB. Traffic officials were also seen removing the silt preventing the free flow of water in the drains. The completion and operationalisation of the new Panathur RUB would provide commuters respite from the severe congestion.

He also highlighted that around 95 per cent of Mahadevapura is facing different kinds of problems with footpaths and drains. “It’s widespread across Mahadevapura, and we have asked BBMP to take action. They have assured us of a 10-day drive against the violators with AEE and AE officials. BBMP will penalise the violators and also order them to rectify the damages done,” he added.

BBMP has proposed the project for nine high-density corridors: Bellary Road, Outer Ring Road from Goraguntepalya to KR Puram, Old Madras Road, Old Airport Road, Kanakapura Road, Hosur Road, Mysore Road, Magadi Road, and Tumkur road. In total, the whole stretch comprises 117.2 km.

He also stated that alternative roads are a few km away, so it might be inconvenient for people going in the other direction.

Pipeline work for the Cauvery Stage V Project, spanning 1.14 km, has commenced at Vibgyor School Road, Thubrahalli. Despite the project team taking necessary precautions, the work is expected to cause significant inconvenience to residents in the vicinity, and traffic congestion is anticipated.

Clement Jayakumar, a member of the Mahadevapura task force, revealed that the bridge was initially scheduled to be completed within three months. However, it has now been more than a year since the construction began, and the project remains unfinished. ​

This step by the traffic police has received a mixed reaction on social media. While some say that naming and shaming the employees will knock some sense into people to drive safely, others say that this is just an extra burden for the cops and companies. Some residents also compared it to the initiatives taken by the police in other cities

Water lettuce, a floating aquatic plant, had taken over the lake, affecting its health and causing harm to aquatic life. Recognising the severity of the issue, the Mahadevapura Task Force (MTF) for the Environment and the Kannamangala Panchayat teamed up to find a solution.

Chroma Road, an alternative route parallel to the Panathur main road, is crucial for reaching the outer ring road and easing traffic at Panathur RUB. However, this route often floods during rains, rendering it impassable. The Mahadevpura Task Force (MTF) suggests avoiding it during the rainy season and opting for it in drier months. Commuters diverted to Panathur RUB because the flooded Chroma vent encountered heavy congestion.

However, he also questioned the feasibility of monitoring the Chroma road vent. He said, “Yesterday could have been another KR circle, but closing down the vent might not be feasible. Officials are not always monitoring the scenario. Traffic officials usually monitor but are not provided with the proper gear to man such areas.
