At least 2,059 people in Mizoram have been infected with conjunctivitis, also known as 'eye flu', in August, senior official of the National Programme

Doctors have advised patients suffering from conjunctivitis to avoid going to crowded places and keep their belongings like handkerchiefs, towels, pillows, sheets and clothes separate. They have also advised parents not to send their children suffering from the disease to the school for three to five days.

With the surge of conjunctivitis/eye flu amongst the school-going children in the state, schools in four districts, namely Mon Dimapur, Niuland, and Chumoukedima, have been shut down until August 26.

Rising conjunctivitis cases lead to the temporary closure of schools in Dimapur district, urging online alternatives.
