The body of the police constable killed during an encounter with a notorious criminal was sent to his hometown Muzaffarnagar today.

The man accused of attacking a woman constable on board a train last month was traced and killed in an encounter during a raid in Uttar Pradesh, police said on Friday. Two of his aides were injured in the gunfight and arrested.

On August 30 the victim, an on-duty constable, was found unconscious in a “pool of blood” inside the general compartment of a train at Ayodhya railway station.

The woman head constable (40), who was found unconscious in a compartment of the train at the Ayodhya junction the next morning with injuries on her face, was travelling to join duty in Ayodhya.

A wanted criminal was shot dead in an encounter with Uttar Pradesh Police in Kaushambi district today.

A wanted criminal was gunned down in an encounter with the Special Task Force (STF) in Uttar Pradeshs Kaushambi district on Tuesday. The criminal identified as Mohammed Gufran was wanted in multiple cases of murder and dacoity.

Kannauj SP Kunwar Anupam Singh said eight cases are lodged against the accused in different police stations. Four cases were lodged against him in 2018, including sexually assaulting and killing two minors.
