PUTRAJAYA: The online sale of Harumanis mangoes received an encouraging response, with a sales value of RM22 million from April until yesterday, said Agriculture Department director-general, Datuk Mohd Nasir Warris.
During the period, he said that the production of Harumanis by 2,415 farmers under the Agriculture Department was 1,174 metric tonnes, with a current sales value of RM29.3 million, of which 669.58 metric tonnes of the total production was sold online.
“This shows that the response of Malaysians to Harumanis is very encouraging, especially through the online platforms.
“Hopefully, people can continue to give support by buying these special mangoes, regardless of whether they are sold online. Seize the opportunity to enjoy Harumanis because it is only available once a year, from April to June,” he said in a press conference here, today.
PUTRAJAYA (April 27): Malaysia will continue to explore new cooperation opportunities in the agriculture and food industry sector with Uzbekistan, said Agriculture and Food Industries Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee.
He said this was among the matters discussed regarding bilateral relations between the two countries, when the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Malaysia Ravshan Usmanov paid a courtesy call on Wisma Tani here yesterday.
Uzbekistan is Malaysia's trading partner in Central Asia with high market potential.
"From January to November 2020, agricultural trade between the two countries was in favour of Malaysia, amounting to RM115.03 million, with the export value of Malaysia's agricultural trade to Uzbekistan amounting to RM145.97 million and import value amounting to RM30.94 million," said Ronald in a statement today.
KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 22): CIMB Group Holdings Bhd has appointed Paul Wong Chee Kin as president and CEO of CIMB Thai effective Feb 1, 2021, succeeding acting president and CEO Sutee Losoponkul after the departure of the previous CEO, Adisorn Sermchaiwong.
In a statement, the group said Losoponkul will remain with CIMB Thai and assume the role of advisor to the president and CEO, until Dec 31, 2021.
Wong is currently CIMB’s group chief operations officer, overseeing activities across functions in payments, digitalisation, strategy, customer delivery and process improvements.
He started his career with CIMB Group in 2007 as senior vice president and head of sales management for consumer sales and distribution at CIMB Bank, and has been assigned to various positions within the group, including stints in Philippines and Singapore.
