On windy, dry days, embers from any fire, especially burn piles and campfires, can easily escape control and cause a wildfire if not properly extinguished.

LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. - Being prepared for wildfire and maintaining defensible space is a year-round activity in our fire-prone and fire-dependent Lake Tahoe Region. This fall, residents should remove dry vegetation around their homes and properties.

Fall outdoor burning will be open on a day-to-day basis subject to current air quality restrictions and fire danger conditions.

DEC says fire started with debris burning

Spring outdoor burning season began on March 1, 2023, across much of Western Montana. People are being reminded to use caution.

The outdoor burning season for Lane County has been delayed by a couple weeks, given unseasonably warm and dry conditions.
