The Nigeria Police Force, Delta State Command, has said it has arrested at least nine suspects connected to the burning of two generation banks in Warri on Wednesday. SaharaReporters earlier reported that some angry youths in Warri town, Delta State, on Wednesday set fire to one of the branches of Access Bank and Union bank while protesting against the persisting scarcity of Naira notes that had forced many businesses across the country to shut down.

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Delta State Command have arrested a 49-year-old man who specialises in stealing industrial heavy-duty generators including 20KVA and 30KVA Perkins and 220V ES (Excellent Silent Generator). The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, who announced the arrest of the suspect identified as Titus Sunday, said the suspect sneaks into people’s homes at night to steal the heavy-duty generators which weigh at least 3,630 kg without diesel.

The Delta State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has said it arrested three suspected Facebook dating scammers who specialised in rape and kidnapping of their victims for ransom. Some junior officers in the Nigeria Police Force have condemned the sacking of their colleagues by the authorities. SaharaReporters had reported that about 24 police officers from the Delta State Command who covered the July 16 governorship election in Osun State were dismissed from the service. They were sacked for accusing the authorities of withholding their allowances during the election. Others were also demoted to junior ranks for similar reasons.

The Delta State Command of the Nigeria Police Force says it has arrested four male suspects for the alleged murder of a 29-year-old man identified as Uguru Dominic and his friend. A statement issued on Sunday by the Command's spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe, said that the victims were killed for allegedly failing to pay N20,000 for work reportedly done for him.
