AVFX's Eric Newkirk shares tips from Event Production Network members on how they create engagement at events through audiovisual techniques.

The Event Production Network (EPN) welcomed Brad Poarch as its new president and also announced its 2024 board members. Poarch is the CEO of Oklahoma City-based AV event production company Cory’s and formerly served as EPN’s vice president.

By Eric Newkirk  Meeting planners need to speak the right language to get the most cost-effective outcome for their audiovisual (AV) needs in the rest of 2023.  Remember how often words like “hybrid” and “virtual” were used in the last three years? Those types of events are still around, but there is a new term.

The thought of having to add hybrid meetings to the skill set of planning meetings can cause great consternation for planners, but the consensus is that adding a virtual component to in-person meetings will become an industry standard of sorts moving forward.

The pandemic didn’t create hybrid events—but it made them more valuable.  This new wave of dynamic, interactive, accessible events isn’t part of the “new norm.”
