Friends and family gathered on Thursday night to remember a teenager who drowned at Lake Yosemite while celebrating the Fourth of July.

Rick Araujo recently left as executive chef of Off the Rails in Worcester to become executive chef at Nichols College in Dudley.

The District is owned by majority partner Cliff Rucker, managing partner Chris Besaw and Executive Chef Rick Araujo.

The Compass Tavern, a bar and nightclub in Worcester’s Canal District, closed Sunday, and renovations for a family-style restaurant began the following morning, said Eric Lindquist, a spokesperson for the project.

The Compass Tavern will undergo a $500,000 renovation and is set to reopen April 12, the same day the Worcester Red Sox take the field at Polar Park.
