Friends of Evans Spring protested outside Roanoke city hall Monday morning, opposing concept plans that consultants presented to city council last month.

On Monday, a group gathered on the steps of Roanoke’s City Hall to rally against development in Evans spring.

Consultants believe their new concept plan could have an overall $ 2.9-billion economic impact.

“We feel like weve developed a feasible plan,” a consultant said. “We haven’t worked out every detail, but I think the fundamentals are strong and something that can be implemented

The Evans Spring plan for the largest parcel of land remaining in Roanoke City that has not been developed will be the subject of a presentation at today's 2pm City Council meeting. Its a proposal that has been met with resistance from some residents in northwest Roanoke previously. More from WFIR's Gene Marrano:
