An Evans Spring community engagement consultant has ideas for building trust with marginalized Roanokers, particularly those affected by urban renewal.

Many people living nearby Evans Spring moved there after being forced from their homes during Urban Renewal.

The city embarked on a process that it hopes will finally decide the longer term future for the last undeveloped piece of land its size in Roanoke.

Consultants gave Roanoke City Council its first update since the city tasked them with devising a master plan for the land.

While there is no finalized development in place, consultants are starting to get a better idea of what could go in the 150 acres of developable land.

The 150-acre plot of land is located between Valley View and the Melrose-Rugby neighborhood.
