other establishment republicans think it s personal. go. that s why i wrote the book. people could understand i was qualified and they could no who i am. karl rove continued to put out misinformation about me and my background even though we gave him the information. the other thing about it is that i was ahead in the polls before the republican infighting. i was leading against the democratic opponent before my own party turned on me and cnn exit polling shows that was sell wouldn t have won either. so if we had united. if we had been able to duplicate what they did in kentucky where the establishment got behind the tea party candidate. it might have been a different outcome. but i m still very proud because we put the political process back in the hands of the people. we were engaging people who have never been involved before. there is a mind set with so many that i m not smart enough or i m not rich enough as if the
you know, somebody who has a very strong stomach for this stuff. martha, are right. and it is hard to see how it isn t the central story of the 2012 election, both at the presidential level and the senate and the house. races across the country. you ve got an economy that, you know, seems to have cratered, and there are serious people suggesting that we are heading back into a recession again, and, this is not exactly the kind of debate the president wants to be engaged in now, and particularly because, when he came into office, remember, he had a democratic congress and implemented his stimulus plan which is what he campaigned on, and go back and look at exit polling in the 08 election, voters chose barack obama because he promised to handle the economy and he implemented his plan, and the stimulus plan and he cannot pay for it and it cost nearly a trillion dollars and i think it is fairly plain that it has not worked and he s talking a lot on the campaign trail, on the midwest bus
