Widespread rain and sustained cooler temperatures have prompted fire officials to lower the fire danger in Missoula County to "high."

SPRINGDALE, Wash. -- Multiple aircraft and crews have responded to a wildfire that broke out in Stevens County on Monday.

The Niarada Fire a dozen miles west of Elmo has burned over 18,000 acres with containment growing to 25%.

The Bowles Creek Fire west of Skalkaho Pass is burning over 3,500 acres and is 5% contained.

The lightning-sparked Ridge Fire is burning six miles southeast of Hungry Horse on the Flathead National Forest.

The Hungry Horse Reservoir is closed to all public access, including both the east and west side roads.

With two fires burning relatively close to each other, the U.S. Forest Service has both responses working hand-in-hand with each other.

The Big Knife Fire burning east of Arlee has burned over 4,800 acres as of Tuesday.

The "Salmon Fire" was first reported Sunday afternoon. Crews on the ground and in the air are responding.

As crews continue to mop up the Priceboro Fire, one family evacuated by the blaze is reflecting on the community support it took to move their horses.
