Skyring and Stauber Named COSIDA Academic All-Americans

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State track and field athletes Maudie Skyring and Ruby Stauber were both named COSIDA Academic All-Americans Tuesday afternoon. Skyring was named a First-Team Academic All-American for the first time in her career while Ruby Stauber earned Second-Team Academic All-America honors. Skyring is the first Seminole to earn first-team honors since Stefan Brits in 2016. "We've been fortunate to have many Academic All-Americans throughout our history, and it is exciting to be able to add to that tradition with Maudie and Ruby. I believe this is the highest honor our student-athletes can receive while they are here at Florida State, and I'm really proud of both Ruby and Maudie for their work both academically and athletically," Head Coach Bob Braman said. Track and Field News Names Cunningham National Athlete of the Year

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Trey Cunningham added another award to his bio Friday evening, as he was named the Men's Outdoor National Athlete of the Year by Track and Field News. Cunningham is the third Seminole to win the award joining Ngoni Makusha (2011) and Walter Dix (2007). Cunningham won all 10 of his races this outdoor season, running 13.22 or faster in nine of those races, the first athlete in NCAA history to do so. Cunningham clocked the second-fastest time in NCAA history (13.00) at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on his way to a national title. Cunningham was also named the USTFCCCA South Region Athlete of the Year on on Thursday. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Trey Cunningham picked up another award on Thursday afternoon, as he was named the Men's South Region Track Athlete of the Year. Cunningham won the award in the indoor season but becomes just the third Seminole to win the award during the outdoor season joining Maurice Mitchell (2012) and Walter Dix (2007). Cunningham put together one of the greatest seasons in NCAA hurdle history during his 2022 campaign. Cunningham went undefeated during his season that was capped off with a national title in the 110m hurdles. In the championship race, Cunningham ran 13.00, tied for the second-fastest race in NCAA history, to become one of four athletes to run 13.00 or faster. In his 10 races this season, Cunningham ran 13.22 or faster nine times which has never been done in NCAA history. The Winfield, Ala., native is now tied for 23rd all-time on the world list. Noles Post Top 11 Finishes in Program of the Year Standings

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Florida State track and field and cross country programs each posted top 15 finishes in the USTFCCCA's Program of the Year standings. The men finished sixth while the women finished 11th. The men posted their best finish since the 2018-19 season when they also finished sixth in the standings. "I'm extremely proud of how high our program places in this prestigious award. Many programs have pockets of excellence, but very few are competitive in cross country, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field. Our goal every year is to be one of the ten best all-around programs in the country," Head Coach Bob Braman said. The USTFCCCA Program of the Year award recognizes the top programs across the cross country, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field seasons based of a team's finish at the NCAA Championships.
