The family of a man who was shot and killed by a Roseville police officer while armed with a knife in 2022 is suing the officer and the city for $10 million.

After a nearly head-on crash with a semi-truck, Frank Robles, 57, appeared to have slashed wrists and approached officers with a 4-inch knife.

Roseville police officer Chad Lee "discharged his firearm" at Frank Robles, who had crashed into a tractor-trailer and would not put down a knife.

Frank Robles was fatally shot by Roseville police after officers responded to a crash. He approached them with a 4-inch fish filet knife, police say.

When Robles came toward an officer with a knife, the officer fired his weapon knocking him to the ground. Robles got up again, still armed with the knife -and the officer fired several more shots which stopped Robles from going any further.

Authorities said a man was armed with a knife when he approached Roseville police officers after a crash on Groesbeck Highway. He was shot and killed after refusing to drop the knife.
