Butler will be just the third black woman to serve in the us senate. No black woman has served in the chamber since Kamala Harris left to become Vice President. Butler will also be the first openly lgbtq senator from california. She is a democratic strategist. Prior to being appointed by governor newsom, she issued a statement saying no one will ever measure up to the legacy of senator Dianne Feinstein. Stop as she was on her way to make the 45. Police say she was hit by a car on tuesday. She wasnt found there until the next day. Traffic records indicate nearly 60 people have been hit on this stretch of road over the last decade. And so many people are going to miss her.
