that question is being asked a lot. it won t be answered until after the new congress sits and speaker ryan, who be the speaker of the rin, and leader mcconnell, get together. if donald trump doesn t win, they are the undisputed leaders of the party. if donald trump wins, it will be an even actual tougher road for the republicans because there will be two parties within one party. the ryan/mcconnell party and the trump party. that will be interesting to see. you want on to make a prediction before you go? no. those 2004 exit polls taught me, never never predict. not even going to go with an electoral number for tonight. no, no. hugh hewitt, we won t hold you you thanks so much. breaking news out of pennsylvania. some issues with voting machines. cynthia mcfadden will join me to explain. let s take a look at democracy plaza in new york where tonight we ll be tallying the election results in real time.
hampshire today, david. they re interesting. no early voting. no real early voting in new hampshire or pennsylvania. michigan has a little bit but you have to be over 60 years old. it s weird there. another reason why these campaigns work sewed hard there in closing days. yeah, and add pennsylvania, right? maybe you just said. circled it initially. it s all good. i wanted to circle michigan again. i felt like like michigan. in the mood to draw a lot of circles. exactly right. hillary clinton finishes there. her husband, obama and springstein, bon jovi, want to take advantage of election day and getting people out. what it s all about. no day but today, as they say in musicals that i love. especially election day. david gregory, great to you have with us. so deep. thank you so much. all right. stay right here on cnn detail and night. on the election, covering it all for you. heard from the republican party. also donald trump, projecting a winning attitude. trump
chief, were sorely missing from donald trump in this campaign. and there s no small number of people, i think, that put their country over their party and said, no way to the question of giving donald trump the nuclear codes, as he demonstrated a temperament that a lot of people left feeling, he s unfit. hugh, when you look at the party elites, i would argue about half said, fine, i ll be with them. and about half said, i couldn t do it. what will happen to the half that are with them, if this ends up not going the way if he doesn t win. he could win, by the way. i m hearing some interesting little clues. it s probably unlikely, but if he doesn t win, i think paul ryan is the automatic and immediate leader of the party in a way that very few legislators have ever been. and he was out there working hard for trump this week. ron johnson was on my show this morning, working hard for trump. what s his favorable rating with trump voters? i was just going to say but elites goin
pennsylvania. no early voting. right. we know the campaign has done a good job in the states with early voting. donald trump has good support in those states. the states where it ll be settled on game day. yes. look, i think that s one of the reasons why they re going to sure up the states. there is no early voting there. democrats tend to benefit from early voting. we should keep in mind that new hampshire may be essentially donald trump but it is a small prize. doesn t solve his big problem. the most significant thing that happened in the past few days is the early vote out of florida. yeah. definitely. if he can t win those 29 votes, i honestly don t see a viable path for him. he doesn t win florida, that s it? i agree. 29. you have to do michigan, minnesota and new hampshire, that s 30. you re asking too much. we ve said this many, many times. it is worth saying one more time. the fact is, we are becoming a more diverse country.
trump. there are policies. look, i think this is a state that s been solidly blue. they are trying to make sure if there is not a surprise in michigan. they think there could be. keep in mind it s different from the states in early voting. they have a sense of how well they are doing or not doing in florida, in north carolina. they didn t have a sense of that in michigan. frankly the clinton campaign wants to make sure they are responding in kind. it s interesting. we are about to take off and head to the grand rapids area. that s a conservative area of michigan that in the primary they didn t pay much attention to. it was quite frankly a lot of the white voters in michigan who helped power bernie sanders to the win. i don t think they want to get on their heels again. we are watching hillary clinton make her way through supporters, an image we see with donald trump on the rope line.
