Fire officials say additional resources needed to improve response times, keep up with city’s growth.

Bob Petroff left Machinists District Lodge W24 headquarters this month, the close of 49 years of involvement with the union.

“We’re trying hard to offer something different,” John Petroff, Mobile Support Team Operations Manager, explained.

Officials say the additional taxes will help firefighters respond faster to emergency calls in the growing city.

While the Missoula Fire Department waits for November to see if voters will approve its request to raise $7 million annually through a new levy, it's also making plans to construct a new fire station and hire 20 new firefighters.
