when they talk about why the democrats should be denied control of the house after this election. jon: we are just getting a report from a local affiliate here in new york, chris, a local television station that rangel has struck a deal. again that is unconfirmed, but it is local media reporting that. exactly the kind of thing that you have been talking about, that he would rather well that a last-minute deal is always possible and maybe even likely in a situation like this. reporter: a last minute deal is always possible. and once congressman rangel demonstrated his willingness to take this thing over the top and give republicans so much fodder for the campaign season this fall he obviously got a stronger negotiating position in this process. jon: what does that do for democrats, if in fact there is some kind of a deal here? what does it relieve them of? reporter: well it depends. if the deal has to do with congressman rangel leaving congress that is very good news for the democ
