In addition to Farrar and Aranda, three Arizona Department of Public Safety Troopers, an employee of a car dealership, and Altland were all hurt in the incident.
According to the Maricopa County Sheriff s Office, Altland is still in the hospital. He currently faces first-degree murder charges for the death of Farrar. I thank God every day he s alive
When Aranda was injured on Thursday night, there was concern he might not survive.
Gilbert police Officer Rico Aranda continued to recover in rehabilitation as of Wednesday after a man in a stolen vehicle hit him, leaving him critically injured, and fatally struck a Chandler officer Thursday evening, according to officials.
Police arrested Jonathon Altland, 25, on suspicion of first-degree murder Thursday after police say he fled from and shot at officers and later hit officers with a stolen vehicle, killing Chandler Officer Christopher Farrar and hospitalizing Aranda, who was in critical but stable condition after the incident.
Aranda, 27, has been with the Gilbert Police Department for three years, according to police. His colleagues and family said he is a loving father of two children, ages 2 and 8, and has been with his wife, Idalia Ontiveros, for a decade.

Officer Rico Aranda suffered a severe head injury when the suspect, 25-year-old Jonathon Altland, tried to steal a car and struck Aranda s car. Chandler police officer Christopher Farrar was also struck and killed.

Officer Christopher Farrar of Chandler, Arizona, was killed. (CNN)An Arizona police officer was fatally struck and another critically injured by a violent felon in a stolen vehicle following a multi-agency shooting and pursuit, authorities said Friday.
A Pinal County Sheriff s deputy was pursuing a vehicle when the person inside it began to shoot at the deputy Thursday about 10 p.m. The deputy continued the pursuit into the city of Chandler in Maricopa County, where the suspect busted through a gate to the airport, which had to be shut down.
The suspect went from Chandler onto the freeway and into the city of Gilbert, where he ended up at a car dealership and stole a vehicle, according to the Gilbert Police Department.
