People line up early in the day to get a chance to sample pitmaster Josh Freda’s Kansas City-style barbecue at Davis Farmland in Sterling. With the grand opening last December of the Davis family’s new year-round Davis BBQ Restaurant, guests now get a chance to sample Freda’s barbecue even when the popular Davis Farmland closes for the winter season, reopening in the spring.
The 200-seat restaurant and outdoor patio at 145 Redstone Road is an expansion to the main barn on the property, with its own entrance and exit separate from the farmland. You don’t have to buy a ticket to the farmland to eat at the restaurant, which features indoor and outdoor TVs, carryout and curbside services.

STERLING Animals at Davis Farmland are familiar to many visitors, from rare breeds being saved to cuddly petting varieties.
Now, the barbecue is ready and visitors can enjoy a meal while visiting some of their favorite farm animals.
Those precious animals are safe, as the brisket comes from animals bred for consumption. But animals to pet will be ready to welcome diners in their own space outside the dining areas.
The Davis family honed their skills in special events over the years.
“Davis BBQ has been in the works for five-plus years,” Larry Davis said. “The thought of being able to bring joy to guests through food has always been exciting to my dad, brother and I.
