The Department of Agriculture is putting $9.8 million toward wildfire crisis mitigation in the Kootenai National Forest through the U.S. Forest Service’s Wildfire Crisis Strategy.

Funding comes from his bipartisan infrastructure law and the Inflation Reduction Act.

The proposed 3,000-acre forest project near Eureka is in the Glen Lake, Sinclair Creek and Ksanka foothills areas.
