Investigators say Jasmine Wright was on the phone with her mother when she was attacked as she walked into her apartment last thursday. Her mom heard a struggle and then the phone went dead. Police say james harris raped and killed wright. Nbc 10s jesse gary is live at Philadelphia Police headquarters, where harris is being questioned by detectives right now. Jesse, you found out something in harris past that shocked even the police . Reporter thats right. He has a long criminal history stretching all the way back to the late 70s but in 1982 he went to court charged with murder. Ultimately he was convicted, found guilty of manslaughter for killing his father. Hes a monster, a career kral criminal. He has been locked up 31 times. As anne makovec reports, bart is shoring up contingency plans with the deadline 12 hours away. Anne. Reporter the bart board is meeting now. After that meeting negotiations will resume. We are 12 hours away from the deadline. The unions didnt give a 72 hour notice of intent to strike but they tonight have to give it. Thats a courtesy to passengers so theres still a very real possibility of a strike as soon as tomorrow mornings commute.
