Some 20,000 evacuees are in temporary shelters and at least 3,500 homes and businesses are destroyed. Eight different fires in napa, solano and solano counties are burning, more than 100,000 acres have been destroyed. In this map you can see just how far its expanded into three bay area unt couldees. Also mandatory evacuations now in effect in parts of geyserville, calistoga and sonoma as well as skroanta rosa. Now, as of the atlas fire it is continuing to grow. So you cant see the flames. The flames are moving west southwest. Yesterday afternoon the people in fairfield were concerned that that shift in winds could bring it their way. They have every reason to be scared. The damage this has already caused is beyond imagination. As of late last night, cal fire says this atlas fire is now bus about 43,000 acres, 3 contained. Its hard to comprehend it. You always see stuff on the news and you never think it will be you. I hope everybody is going to be safe. [ crying ] reporter crews set a controlled burn tuesday night to clear out vegetation near the Water Treatment plant at the end of green valley road in Solano County. Thats where Fairfield Police have issued a mandatory evacuation. Back in napa county, napa police want to remind people that as of just before 2 p. 21 fires are still burning across northern california. The biggest ones are devastating wine country and causing dangerous air quality throughout the bay area. And right now, at least 26 people confirmed dead. At least 463 more are reported missing. The fires have charred more than 156,000 acres and more than 3500 homes and businesses have already been destroyed. Some of these are voluntary work that is where people are being told to be ready. Its a voluntary evacuation area. The area in red, that is where the atlas fire is burning. The advisory extends fairly far south down along highway 12 and east to the county line. It includes hagan road, ritchie avenue, first avenue, third avenue, Terrace Drive. They allowed some people to go in today whether their home was destroyed or not. Only on a specific mission. These neighborhoods are still very much under threat.
