A construction crisis forcing thousands to evacuate. The danger zone is in San Francisco south of market as we said around an Apartment Building under construction at 41 tehama street. All those streets are closed with the fremont street exit ramp from westbound interstate 80. In total 16 buildings have been evacuated. We have Live Team Coverage to get details what is at risk and how many people its impacting. We begin with lillian kim. Dan and ama, were at second and Howard Street and behind me is 33 tehama, the residential high rice with the construction mishap this afternoon that caused a crane and concrete slab on the top floor to become unstable and both were thought to be at risk of falling. It happened at 2 45 p. M. A construction crew called 911 after a strut holding up a 30ton crane at the top center of the building failed. The weight of that crane put pressure on the concrete slab below it and it is leaning out ward. Its 2,000 pounding and it and the crane falls, the Fire Dep
Officials say its now been secured. Engineers have been assessing the situation, and crews are at work right now, trying to stabilize the problem. Ktvus amber lee has new developments in just the past hour. Reporter the Fire Department held a briefing just about an hour ago at 9 00. Major announcements coming out of that briefing. The Evacuation Order has been lifted with the exception of one building. 44th tahama. Thats the building across the street from this high rise. All buildings have opened except for tahama between 1st and 2nd. City Officials Say theres no danger that the concrete pumping structure will fall, but there is still work to be done. Under the night sky crews spent hours shoring up the platform thats holding up the concrete pumping structure thats leaning. They received a call at 2 45, from construction workers pouring concrete on the roof. They reported that the platform had failed, causing the concrete structure to lean.
