Their high school journeys may have had a bumpy beginning, but, for the graduating seniors from Thompson Valley high school, it all evened out at the end.

The Thompson Valley boys basketball team is getting some preseason recognition and the Eagles are out to prove it's no fluke. Despite coming off a 14-10 season that ended with a first-round playoff loss, the Eagles are ranked No. 6 in Class 5A by CHSAA and No. 4 by basketballcolorado.com.

Thompson Valley football kept its league title hopes alive, setting up a probable Class 3A League 7 championship game next Friday against Resurrection Christian with a 41-21 victory over Roosevelt on Thursday at Roosevelt High School.

Big plays were the theme of the night Friday at Ray Patterson Field. Thompson Valley and Niwot combined for four scoring plays of 45 yards or more, but the Eagles had more of them and pulled away in the final three quarters for a 44-14 victory.
