Republican 17th District Cook County Commissioner Sean M. Morrison of Palos Park appeared to be holding off a primary challenge from his predecessor Elizabeth "Liz" Doody Gorman of Orland Park late Tuesday.

All 17 seats on the county board are up for election this year; the GOP currently holds only two.
