Local rehabilitation and rescue centers are starting to release thousands of cold-stunned sea turtles rescued during the winter storm last week.
Grab your hiking boots a popular state park is reopening this weekend.
Government Canyon State Natural Area announced on Twitter Tuesday it will reopen Friday for day-use and camping. On Feb. 16, the state park closed to the public due to winter storm conditions and utility issues. We appreciate your patience and support while we recovered from last week s winter weather the past few days, the state park tweeted.
Reservations for a day-pass typically fill up fast, so grab them while you can. Click here for reservations.
The following state parks are still closed due to the damages from the snow last week: Abilene State Park; Atlanta State Park; Caprock Canyons State Park & Trailway; Enchanted Rock (opens Wednesday); Fort Boggy State Park; Galveston State Park (opens Wednesday); Goose Island State Park; Indian Lodge; Inks Lake; Lake Brownwood (opens Thursday); Lake Livingston; Lake Tawakoni State Park; Lake Whitney; McKinney Falls (opens Thursday) and Meridian State Park.
