Another Journalist Denying Cancel Culture Becomes Upset When He Is Fired Over Innocuous Comments

That is one way to make a believer out of a denier. It is still early in the year but there could be an emerging trend here in 2021 Journalists who become canceled after denying there is such a thing as cancel-culture. We first saw this come about last month when New York Times editor Lauren Wolf suddenly found herself released from duties at the paper. Wolfe was the one who expressed on her Twitter account the surge of emotions she felt when she saw Joe Biden’s plane touch down on his inauguration day. When there was a surge of those on Twitter noting her distinct lack of objectivity she briefly closed her account; it also led to the paper dismissing her soon after. What followed was a flurry of claims how it was unfair, but then it was also revealed that Wolfe had in the past been dismissive about the very reality she was facing.

Leftist Guardian Writer Who Said There Is No Cancel Culture Gets Canceled For Criticizing Israel Published: February 12, 2021 A leftist Guardian writer who proclaimed there is no cancel culture just got canceled himself for tweeting a sarcastic joke criticizing US military aid to Israel. Tasos Katopodis/Getty Images Populism is a term many people have seized upon to explain the Donald Trump phenomenon. But the definition of populism has always been somewhat hazy, and the Trump era has had a dearth of concrete policy fights that could be explained as an expression of the president’s populism. During the Russia and Ukraine scandals, you could sort of discern ad hoc populist coalitions defending Trump against the national security establishment, but while Trump’s supporters in these episodes presented the issue as being “really” about national security, in reality they were simply justifying a bunch of corruption and abuses of power.

That’ll show ’em! Jesse Kelly, a conservative radio host and two-time failed congressional candidate, put forth the bold proposal on Tuesday night. “Let me help out the Right here real quick: The next time someone proposes that you tear down a Robert E. Lee statue, you immediately build ten more Robert E. Lee statues,” Kelly tweeted. “Not cause you love him or hate him. But because that’s how you deal with the Leftist scourge.”
