Like most teams around the league, it was a quiet winter meetings for the Miami Marlins, who leave the four-day session in Nashville with the same roster that they had when they arrived.

The Miami Marlins are finalizing an agreement to hire former San Francisco Giants manager Gabe Kapler as an assistant general manager, according to a person familiar with the deal. Kapler was fired by the Giants with three days left in the 2023 regular season after the team failed to make the playoffs for a second straight year. San Francisco lost in the NL Division Series that year in five games to Los Angeles, then went 81-81 last year.

Kapler spent the past six seasons as an MLB manager, most recently with the San Francisco Giants.
