Various events are happening this week in and around DeKalb County, including the ending of the Fernbank Wildwoods: AGLOW Attraction, the Decatur Business Association Black History Program and an open house hosted by Leadership DeKalb. Several local government meetings are also scheduled for this week.

The Avondale Estates City Commission, at its Feb. 22 work session, removed Branbury Cross from a list of residential roads to be paved.

The Georgia General Assembly could soon take up a bill aiming to make homes more affordable through design standards. Local officials in DeKalb County say the bill would reduce local control.

During the Avondale Estates City Commission meeting on Feb. 8, City Manager Patrick Bryant told city commissioners that the city's public works department is understaffed and has a fleet of aging vehicles that won't be cheap to replace.
