Laguna Beach City Council voted unanimously to waive the confidentiality and attorney-client privilege of certain closed sessions held July and August regarding former city manager Shohreh Dupuis’ claims of alleged harassment by council member George Weiss and the resulting settlement during its Nov. 7 meeting.

An underground utility district for the Woods Cove neighborhood first appeared before the Laguna Beach City Council in 2014. There are now 380 assessable parcels.

Phil Kohn was presented a proclamation recognizing his 41 years of service as the city attorney for Laguna Beach. His last regular meeting with the City Council was Tuesday.

According to the settlement agreement, Shohreh Dupuis will be paid a nine-month severance pay of $223,077 to settle all claims.

Shohreh Dupuis has stepped down from her position as Laguna Beach’s City Manager. City attorney Phil Kohn announced the decision after the city council met in a closed session on Thursday morning, Aug. 24. 

Laguna Beach City Manager Shohreh Dupuis will retire from the position on Sept. 1, per the terms of a separation agreement executed Thursday during a closed session of the City Council.
