Lets put this in context, americans owe more money than the value of all the goods and services that are produced right here in the United States in one year. That level of debt quite honestly is unsustainable. Is nt just me saying that. C. B. O. Says our high and rising debt would have serious negative consequences on the economy and the federal budget. Admiral mike mullen said, the single biggest threat to our National Security is the debt. America is faced with two paths. One to continue down the path of blissful neglect or on the other path to seek an honest solution to it. Instead of solving our debt problems, president obama has committed to exacerbating them. The president s budget would add 8. 5 trillion to our already staggering debt. But despite new taxes in addition the obamas budget never ever balances. It is a vision that confines our children and grandchildren to heavy debt and tax burdens.
Trucks sliding today in northern virginia. A lot of roads hadnt been treated or plowed by midmorning. Some were even blocked off. Peggy fox reports from arlington tonight where the problem is not enough salt. Reporter Arlington County has been cutting back because of its depleting supply of salt. Maybe that had something to do with the blocked off and slippery roads this morning. Winter held its icy grip through afternoon despite the bright sunshine. On i66 through rosslyn icy actions among those sections shaded by the sound barrier five cars crashed into each other. Its slippery and too dangerous outside right now. Reporter this morning the icy roads and highways were treacherous. This tractor trailer crashed on i95 in the southbound lanes just south of the occoquan bridge. On i66 a tractor trailer ended up on its side. This morning most neighborhood streets in Fairfax County looked like theyd seen a plow truck or two but not in arlington. Why should these isolated incidents not have the same or at least similar reactions . I have no idea. Again, my point is there seem to be a scarcity of good statistics except we know that africanamericans are more likely to be shyot and arrested. We do not know the gross numbers on that. Have patience with this idea that we keep stringing together all these isolated incidents when you have 10 or 20 isolated incidents. It seems to be you have a pattern. That seems like logic to me. I would just add that 9 11 was not in fact an isolated incident. It was the biggest ring to hit this country. I think some measure of better security and better preposition preparation was warranted.
