The weather office has forecast cloudy skies with the possibility of light rain or drizzle.

IMD informed that the monsoon trough shifted to a southward direction has intensified and is likely to move northwards from July 17. 

Weather update: Heavy rainfall is expected all across the southern states of India. Maharashtra and Gujarat will experience more showers today. 

With heavy rainfall lashing Mumbai and several other cities in Maharashtra over the past few days, the weather department has issued a red alert for Mumbai, Thane and Palghar for Friday.  

“Conditions are favorable for further advance of monsoon into remaining parts of Arabian Sea & Gujarat, parts of Rajasthan, remaining parts Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, some more parts of  Uttar Pradesh and some parts of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir during next 3-4 days,” IMD said. 

Met Office predicted a possibility of isolated heavy rainfall over Uttarakhand during June 27-29; over East Uttar Pradesh on June 28 and 29 and over Himachal Pradesh on the June 29.

Intense spell of rainfall is very likely to continue along the west coast, while subdued rainfall activity over northwest and central India is expected between June 23 and June 25, said IMD. 

Monsoon has finally set its foot into the Indian sub-continent. IMD has predicted thunderstorms with rain in parts of Puducherry and Tamil Nadu for the next five days. 

Widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely over northeast India and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim during next 5 days, said IMD. 

"No significant heat wave conditions are very likely over the country during next five days," IMD said.
