The mishandling of the Lochaber FOI claiming not to have paperwork that the SNP Scottish Government did have, the impact of transferring our elderly into care homes as Covid was rife, the census that one quarter of our households have chosen not to fill in (and I doubt it has anything to do with Ukraine or the cost of living), the ongoing ferry saga and the concerns about the financial guarantee given to Sanjeev Gupta in return for the creation of 2,000 jobs, of which only 50 have materialised?

The political commentariat has become a hothouse of ever growing outrage at the apparent failings of the Prime Minister and others in Downing Street, screaming for his instant resignation.

Readers will have heard, perhaps with disgust and or even disbelief, the latest wild plans of the Conservative government to send refugees and asylum seekers to Rwanda for “processing” (Scotsman, 15 April).

Has Scottish Labour leader Anas Sawar struck the correct note when he says that the Council polls on 5 May are “about one thing only – the cost-of-living crisis” (Scotsman, 7 April)?

I can't help feeling that the news from Ukraine has gone far beyond war crimes. Shootings in front of families, booby trapping bodies, stealing humanitarian aid and deliberately targeting civilians and using them as human shields are crimes against humanity itself. Keeping a “dignified” distance to avoid a Third World War or todamage our economy and the like are no longer options.

I am more than disappointed by the reaction of western democracies to the continuing aggression by the Russian army in Ukraine.

Surely our Government should immediately suspend the £300 million aid to Pakistan?

It was not unexpected to note Jacob Rees-Mogg pontificating that there is little evidence that Brexit has damaged UK trade.

I agree with George Hardy (Letters, February 16) that proposals of the "Greens" are ill-informed. The new bike lane in Glasgow’s Sauchiehall Street is very little used and there is no case for provision of more such.
