In response to Lynne Chowning’s letter on Dec. 10 (“Photo leads to question,” Our Readers’ Views) regarding how homeless people can afford all the bicycles: they are stolen!

Contrary to “Insurance commissioner is right” (Our Readers’ Views, Dec. 15), the use of credit history by the insurance industry is not “ethically bankrupt.”

The patriarchy should be afraid. Women are the majority of the U.S. population — that’s a lot of votes.

Rick Hauser’s letter of Dec. 11 (“Affluent unfairly targeted,” Our Readers’ Views) is riddled with fallacies. Equal opportunity in employment, education and housing is a myth because of intergenerational poverty, which means adverse conditions parents affect the development of their children.
