played out here. we ll get the results later this week. it would be insane to see the democrats responsible for this, aaron. because, trump has the white house. mitch mcconnell in charge of the senate and we got paul ryan in charge of the house. they re going to own healthcare if they move on healthcare. yeah, i don t think trump s message is at all clear. one day he will say let obamacare implode and the next day he will go onto twitter and say mitch mcconnell you should do something and he s going back and forth on that just about everyday. look, i think he kind of got annoyed of fold in and this is not going to go anywhere. if this repeal vote goes down this week as expected, healthcare, they re going to do it again at some other point. i think in the trump error, we gotten bad at reading between the lines. he only said that to keep the
expensive. we wasted six months and nothing will happen. they will do a repeal vote and move on and move to tax reform. do you think it is going to happen, elise? there is compromise talk happening. you heard steve talk about the idea to push this medicaid plan and use taxes to offset costs, is that something that could maybe turn some of these noes to a yes maybe? i ve been so surprised watching this process and how senate leadership approached and the white house because this is going to happen and we have the votes, we have the votes, given how they have been so off base throughout this entire process, maybe they will do something next week. but i don t see anyone compromising and i don t see any of these votes necessarily changing at this point. elise jordan, thank you very much for joining us here. for that, julie and jim, hang out for a little bit longer. we want to talk about donald trump. no way. we re six months in to his administration. imagine that on this program
that dictates all. he said i was not asked and would not have given. the president did not ask and it would not have been given. the measure of man he chose was not given, that s reassuring. you were at the white house yesterday for this lunch with the president on health care. you said that we are close to reaching a deal. you said within a margin of two votes. that is drastically different than we have heard from fellow republican colleagues. where are you close, on a full repeal vote or repeal and replace? you know the president said what the american people need is not just a repeal, they need a repeal and replace. what are you close to agreement on? the president was adamant about wanting a repeal. the common ground is we want to get power out of washington, d.c., return it to the patient, return it to the state. that s a good, conservative way to approach.
ought to get to a solution. neil: do you support a repeal vote right now? a lot of your colleagues are sure that would success steed. certainly it wouldn t. more importantly, i don t think it s the right way to go. don t throw in the towel, get the reforms that we republicans have been talking about for years giving the states more flexibility, giving the insurance companies the ability to sell plans people want to have. no of that happens were repeal. all it does is kick the can down the road. neil: you weren t in the camp that said something was better than nothing, having something that was a little less, big government, than obamacare the way it s presently stipulated. would have been better. get rid of the taxes. get rid of the stuff that s causing these rates to go up so dramatically in my own state, 19 counties, with zero insurance companies in the individual market. another 27 with only one insurer. that s no competition. if you just do repeal all of the experts tell me
