With $14 million in outstanding bills, board tasks staff with enforcement plan

The board passed a motion unanimously to opt out of the change in a meeting Tuesday, and to revisit the change later to see how other counties fair.

The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to continue suspending all but 10% of measure S taxes for cannabis cultivation in Tuesday's meeting.

The revoked permit, which allowed property owner Gerald McGuire to build a new structure and demolish the old one on the site – McGuire did the latter, but not the former – is the latest in a decade-plus long saga of complaints about McGuire’s home beginning in 2004. Second District Supervisor Rex Bohn noted that McGuire’s home is the second most complained about property in the county.
