The El Dorado City Council Finance Committee will convene for a specially-called meeting today to address a request to allocate money for a summer cleanup program.

The city of El Dorado and 35th Judicial District Court are one week in to a new anti-litter initiative and Judge Jack Barker said the program should pick up in the coming weeks.

Starting Monday, anyone with an active arrest warrant for traffic citations or failure to appear/outstanding fines with the El Dorado Police Department will have the opportunity to clear their warrants and schedule a new date for a court appearance.

The El Dorado Parks and Playgrounds Commission has temporarily suspended a policy that sets an age limit for children who visit Lions Club Municipal Golf Course.

Council Member Willie McGhee is urging local residents to be on the lookout for upcoming announcements about public hearings to solicit feedback about improvements and amenities they would like to see in city parks -- particularly, a water feature/aquatic recreation facility.

As the El Dorado Parks and Playgrounds Commission works to secure funding for the next phases of a master plan to improve and upgrade city parks, the group is also focusing on smaller maintenance projects and other issues.

The city of El Dorado issued 16 building permits January - March for a total of $6,583,766.48, according to information provided by Robert Edmonds, director of public works.

Within the past year, a second drive-through lane has been added to the El Dorado Water Utilities to help alleviate traffic backups and improve efficiency for customers who use the drive-through service to pay their monthly bills.

El Dorado city officials are working to convene a Union County Solid Waste Authority meeting to discuss divvying up revenues among participating cities to help fund municipal projects.
