Single-judge Justice Subhendu Samanta said that Section 498A was introduced for the welfare of women but the same is now being misused by filing false cases.

The High Court made the observations while ordering Delhi Police to appoint the Petitioner as a Sub Inspector as he had cleared the requisite exams for the same but his appointment was kept in abeyance.

The Karnataka High Court convicted the mother-in-law, sister-in-law and husband of a deceased woman who had given birth to two girls with mental disabilities for cruelty.
