Decatur Police are dealing with a rash of car break-ins in the Winnona Park neighborhood, and residents reported nearly 60 incidents within the last 30 days. 

The driver of a U-Haul van plowed into a utility pole on Wednesday evening, Jan. 25, causing power outages in the Belvedere Park neighborhood. 

Construction will soon begin on sidewalks on Shadowmoor Drive and Hilldale Drive in Decatur. The Decatur City Commission, at its June 6 meeting, awarded a contract to IP Construction for $259,075 for sidewalk construction. 

Shadowmoor and Hilldale Drives in Decatur are set to get a new sidewalk on the west side of Shadowmoor Drive and the north side of Hilldale Drive. The Decatur City Commission approved a sidewalk plan for the area on Monday, Nov. 1. The plan aims to improve the pedestrian connectivity in the neighborhood between Winnona Park Elementary School, Talley Street Upper Elementary School and Legacy Park.

The Decatur City Commission will meet on Monday, Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m. for a work session and at 7:30 p.m. for a regular meeting. The meetings are held in person at Decatur City Hall, 509 N. McDonough Street, as well as Zoom.

DeKalb County has lined up sewer repair projects that will result in lane closures beginning on Oct. 25.
