WARREN/CENTER LINE — In the Warren Weekly’s coverage area, Warren voters will elect the city’s next mayor, clerk and City Council members on Nov. 7.

With the advent of Proposition 2, a state constitutional amendment that was approved by MIchigan voters in 2022, clerks across the state will be working to implement new voting procedures including nine days of early voting beginning in 2024.

The U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals denied a request from Warren Mayor James Fouts to expedite review of his lawsuit, originally filed in August, that sought to add him to the ballot and alleged violation of his civil rights.

In Warren, five people have officially filed to write as write-in candidates in four different city races.

Warren City Councilman Eddie Kabacinski continued his fight to remove candidates from the Nov. 7 ballot this week when he filed a suit in the Michigan State Court of Appeals.

WARREN — Lawyers for Warren Mayor Jim Fouts vow to appeal a ruling by a federal judge who dismissed a lawsuit alleging the mayor’s civil rights were violated when he was removed from the ballot of this year’s primary election.

Macomb County Circuit Court Judge James Biernat dismissed a fraud case Tuesday filed by Warren District 5 Councilman Eddie Kabacinski against three of his opponents and members the Warren Election Commission.

WARREN — Incumbent City Councilman Eddie Kabacinski filed a lawsuit in Macomb County Circuit Court on Aug. 18 against three candidates, the Warren Election Commission and the Warren city clerk for allowing those candidates on this year’s primary election ballot.
