The Mumbai Traffic Police will bring back breath analyser tests from Dec 29 to prevent drunk and rash driving. Breathalysers were stopped in 2020-21 owing to the Covid-19 pandemic as any direct contact with an infected person heightens the risk of the spread of the infection.

Former zonal Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) director Sameer Wankhede informed the Bombay High Court on Friday that the State Excise Commissioner has dismissed his appeal challenging an order passed by the Thane Excise Collector cancelling the liquor license of his restaurant and bar in Navi Mumbai.

Former zonal NCB director Sameer Wankhede withdrew his plea against the Excise Department against the liquor license cancellation matter in the Bombay High Court. He informed the court that he would file afresh petition.

The comments came in a plea by owners of hostels and schools for tribal students challenging the alcohol permit granted to a restaurant in near vicinity of the school.
