Villa Park has approved the architectural firm and the sale of bonds up to $7.5 million to help fund a new recreation center and redevelopment of outdoor facilities at Lions Park. The village is rushing to meet a deadline to hold onto a $10 million grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

Villa Park is considering constructing a 38,000-square-foot recreation center at Lions Park. Meanwhile, a developer has unveiled a proposal for a mixed-use housing and retail complex along Villa Avenue.
