ornado. theoretically within this transcript we'll find out what the committee asked about closing the loop on the testimony of cassidy hutchinson about what happened in the presidential motorcade on capitol hill. she told that story about the president reaching over the seat of the motorcade to lunge at bobby engle and the driver. and she said tony ornado was the one who told her that. it will be interesting to see that in the transcript. >> absolutely. and that's -- you make exactly the right point. you've been covering this as closely as anyone. the -- effectively hearsay of cassidy hutchinson about what she had heard from tony ornado, that's going to be one of the things we're going to be looking at. in addition to that, that security posture before january 6th and what tony ornado knew about what the president's plans were for january 6th both ahead
hutchinson has come under criticism about her testimony. that trump lunged at the driver of his presidential vehicle. the transcript released was when she talked with the committee again in september and she doubled down on her testimony to that effect. she specifically said not only did tony ornado say it but he recollected that to me in subsequent conversations. so she has been criticized for this and there's been some denial but even as recently as september when she talked to the committee again after her public testimony she says, no. that conversation happened. he told me what trump's actions were. she has doubled down on that. >> that is so important and thinking also about how this is going to impact the special counsel and what the doj is doing because it wasn't as though they were waiting fon criminal referrals. but just thinking about the currency here and i'll end with you nick, the currency here is

especially these text messages that have been, out of all the communications, most under the spotlight. although our reporting also told us that the committee ultimately was not able to obtain these deleted text messages from key players, people like tony or nad yoe during this time period. but at the end of the day, dhs finally started taking a more cooperative posture and delivered 1.5 million documents, microsoft teams chats, e-mails, text messages beyond what they asked for. so the committee really has had a plethora of new communications and documents to piece through to create a better, more cohesive and detailed picture of what exactly happened in the lead-up to january 6 on that day in and in the aftermath. >> i still think it surprises a lot of people that the secret

becoming extremely close and developing this kind of unusual, untraditional relationships with secret service agents. for example, tony ornado in particular was an agent who worked for the secret service, who then went back to work, who then became trump administration official and worked directly for the president in a political position. this was something that was really unprecedented. and i think raised a lot of questions and alarms about whether or not he was able to do his job of protecting the president while also serving in a political role and trying to appease the former president. the same with bobby engel. a lot of the relationships have been scrutinized as these new details about the secret service's actions on the day of january 6th. i think i wouldn't be surprised if tomorrow we do see some potential communications that go
