The NBC2 First Alert Hurricane Tracking Team is monitoring a busy Atlantic Ocean basin with Tropical Storm Nigel, a tropical wave expected to emerge off the coast of Africa midweek, and a non-tropical low that is expected to form in the Eastern U.S. Despite the flurry of activity, there continue to be no systems posing a direct threat to our community in Southwest Florida.

The NBC2 First Alert Hurricane Tracking Team is monitoring a busy Atlantic Ocean basin with now Tropical Storm Nigel, Post-Tropical Cyclone Lee, and Tropical Storm Margot. Lastly, a tropical wave expected to emerge off the coast of Africa in the coming days has a low chance of development and will need to be monitored closely over the next week.

Hit or miss showers will target the coastline throughout this morning. Temperatures are starting in the 70s and 80s with a muggy feel out the door and calm winds.

Enjoy the morning, as temperatures are only in the 70s and conditions are dry. Winds are out of the east today, which will allow scattered storms to be pinned along the coast into the afternoon and evening.

The NBC2 First Alert Hurricane Tracking Team is monitoring a busy Atlantic Ocean basin with Post-Tropical Cyclone Lee, Tropical Storm Margot, and Tropical Depression Fifteen, which is expected to become our next named storm.

As of 5 a.m. Friday, Hurricane Lee remains a category 1 hurricane with now lower sustained winds of 85 mph. Lee's forward motion is toward the north at 16 mph, about twice as fast as it was moving yesterday. 

Despite the flurry of activity, no systems pose a direct threat to our community in Southwest Florida. 

As of 11 a.m. Wednesday morning, Hurricane Lee remains a category 3 hurricane with sustained winds of 115 mph and gusts up to 140 mph.

As of 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, Hurricane Lee has weakened to a category 2 hurricane with sustained winds of 110 mph and gusts of only 110 mph.
