Most shower and thunderstorm activity will stay offshore this morning with an otherwise muggy start across southwest Florida. Temperatures are in the 70s and 80s out the door with highs in the mid 90s again today.

The NBC2 First Alert Hurricane Tracking Team is tracking a tropical wave over the open Atlantic Ocean that has an increasing chance of development in the next week. Chances for development are at 20 percent over the next two days and 70 percent over the next week

Most shower and thunderstorm activity will stay offshore this morning with a steamy start over land as temperatures begin in the 80s. Get ready for a quick climb to the mid 90s this afternoon with scattered storms in the forecast. Isolated showers will develop early in the day and storms will build by the late afternoon. Heavy rain, frequent lightning and gusty winds will be the main threats.
